Lewis County Seniors request for 2023 funding: Becky Butler said the Lewis County Seniors group has requested 2023 funding totaling $100,000 to provide nutrition services in 2023. The commissioners asked whether the group is duplicating services by providing at-home meal delivery when another group already provides that service in the area. The commissioners directed Becky to include a $100,000 placeholder in the preliminary 2023 budget and to review the direct costs associated with the county’s other donations to the group: building use, maintenance fees, etc. Becky noted that the county has not yet received a copy of the group’s most recent audit. The commissioners said they would like to renew discussions about having the group take over the buildings. Calendars: Commissioner Grose said he would be out of the office Sept. 27-28. Correspondence: The commissioners discussed emails they’ve received regarding wind farms and gun violence. Minute folders: Commissioner Grose made a motion to approve minute folders for the weeks of Aug. 15, 22 and 29. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0. Announcements / new business: Commissioner Swope said Pierce County worked with the ACLU to create camping restrictions to address homeless camps. He said the PA’s Office is drafting similar ordinance for Lewis County. Commissioner Pollock discussed a fish tour and Skate Creek Road trek she took the previous week. Meeting ended at 9:23 a.m.
