Directors’ Update items Jenn Libby-Jones discussed a notice to issue a request for proposals (RFP) for VHF engineering study, a project of the American Rescue Plan Act funding. Rieva Lester discussed a resolution to set Lewis County's 2023 mileage rate at 65.5 cents per mile effective Jan. 1, 2023. Eric Eisenberg discussed a resolution to approve a First Amended Agreement with AMP Insights concerning consultant services for a water bank. Doug Carey discussed a resolution to listing the bids received and contractor selected for the East County Sheriff's Substation project. Commissioner Pollock made a motion to move one notice item, two consent items and three deliberation items to the Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, BOCC Business Meeting agenda. Commissioner Brummer seconded. Motion passed 3-0. Announcements Steve Wohld discussed changes in Internal Services, including the retirement of the Facilities Administrator. Meja Handlen said the Sheriff’s Office has taken over animal control. Amber Smith said HR / Risk has started its public defense coordination. Wednesday Workshop 2023 Legislative Session: Josh Weiss and Troy Nichols discussed the 2023 Legislative session and the work they will provide to advance the county’s priorities and review bills going before the lawmakers. Josh said the first deadline for bills is Feb. 17. Josh noted that bills typically are included in a preview roundup on the Wednesday preceding the week in which the Legislature will review them. He said his team will review the bill roundups and flag proposals they believe the county would have an interest in. The commissioners said they’d like to meet with Josh and Troy weekly at the start of the Monday Wrap- Up / County Manager update. Wednesday Workshop Commissioner Swope asked that those present think of ways to further improve the culture of the workplace. Becky Butler said the county’s Broadband team will meet the next day. Meja Handlen invited the group to a Three Kings event planned for Jan. 7 at the Blue Pavilion. Doug Carey said the contractor working on the Community Development building will begin working on electrical installation beginning the following week. Attendees shared their professional and personal goals for 2023. Correspondence Commissioner Pollock discussed emails the county had received regarding a PUD project and a Swofford Pond project. Rieva Lester noted that both items are on the agenda for Monday’s Wrap-Up. Meeting adjourned at 10:24 a.m.
