Executive session
At 2:03 p.m., Commissioner Swope announced that the Board would be going into executive session
under RCW 42.30.110(1)(i) for 4 minutes to discuss: Brittany Evers v. Lewis County et al.
Executive session started at 2:04 p.m.
Executive session ended at 2:08 p.m. Commissioner Swope noted that no decisions had been made.
2023 Legislative session
Erik Martin said he spoke to Josh Weiss about the senior citizen sales tax support program. Erik sent Josh
comments and asked that the provisions be incorporated into the bill. Erik also noted that Josh said this
is not a new tax that will impact the consumer in Lewis County.
Commissioner Swope discussed SB 5361 which would collect a 10% tax for law enforcement for cities
and counties. He said it would provide more funding that would go back into the community.
Erik noted that Josh Weiss felt this bill had some bi-partisan support.
Commissioner Swope discussed SB 5224 which would establish performance requirements of
homelessness service providers. He felt this bill would ensure that money was being spent on homeless
services.
