2023-04-25 Seniors UpdateLewis County Seniors Update April 25, 2023 3:30 p.m. Present: Commissioner Swope, Commissioner Pollock, Nic Scott, Carol Brock, Nicole Barr, Judy Barr Guest(s): None Recorder: Tammy Martin Carol Brock said the Lewis County Seniors group would like the county to install two bingo boards that were donated to the group. She said the group wants the boards to be installed at the Twin Cities Senior building. Nicole Barr said there has been a surge in meal costs. She said HB 1754 increased funding and that the per-meal reimbursement amount has increased to $7. Nicole said this requires the user to contribute more funds toward the costs associated with each meal. Freezer meals are donation costs only. Carol said funds from savings will have to be used to cover costs until the new budget is settled by Lewis- Mason-Thurston Area Agency on Aging (LMTAAA). Carol said the recent Night of Magic event did not generate funds as expected. Carol said the Seniors group plans to host an Olympic Club Friends and Family Night in the spring, a benefit concert in the summer and a poker run in September. Carol said the thrift store generates the group’s largest revenue. Carol said there are several positions that need to be filled. They are in need of an Executive Director as well as several entry-level positions. Carol said the Executive Director would be the person responsible for fundraising. Carol said the McMenamins Olympic Club Friends and Family event will be from 5 p.m. to midnight Tuesday, May 2. She said 50% of the proceeds will benefit the Lewis County Seniors group.
