At 10:37 a.m., Commissioner Swope announced that the Board would be going into Execu�ve Session
under RCW 42.30.110(1)(g) for 15 minutes to evaluate the county manager applicants’ qualifica�ons.
Execu�ve session started at 10:37 a.m.
• At 10:52 a.m., the Board extended execu�ve session 10 minutes.
• At 11:02 a.m., the Board extended execu�ve session 5 minutes.
Execu�ve Session ended at 11:07 a.m. Commissioner Swope noted that no decisions had been made.
Commissioner Swope said the commissioners would like to interview candidates 1, 2, 3 and 5.
Greg Prothman said he will work with staff to create a press release about the candidates.
Greg Prothman suggested the commissioners create two panels to provide informa�on about the
candidates’ strengths and weaknesses. He suggested two or three panels of roughly seven individuals
apiece who would ask 12-14 ques�ons per panel.
The commissioners discussed who to ask to sit on the panels:
• Electeds: Prosecutor, Sheriff, Auditor, Assessor, Treasurer, Clerk, Superior Court, District Court
and Coroner.
• Directors: Becky Butler, Steve Wohld, Meja Handlen, Mat Jaeger, Amber Smith, Jenn Libby-
Jones, Lee Napier, BJ Kuykendall, Alex Murray and Doug Carey.
The group said they will hold a meet and greet from 4 to 7 p.m. July 11 and then conduct interviews on
July 12. They discussed holding an execu�ve session interview from 4 to 5 p.m. July 11.
The commissioners said they would decline to provide travel reimbursements for candidates.
