Resolu�on 23-108: Commissioner Brummer made a mo�on to approve a nunc pro tunc fix to correct
scrivener’s error in Resolu�on 23-108. Commissioner Pollock seconded. Mo�on passed 3-0.
County Manager interview process, including pre-approval for costs exceeding $100: Commissioner
Brummer made a mo�on to allow purchases, not to exceed $250, for refreshments for the upcoming
County Manager meet-and-greet and interview-day snacks. Commissioner Pollock seconded. Mo�on
passed 3-0.
Toledo – District Court services: The commissioners directed staff to reach out to Toledo.
Timberland Regional Library (TRL): Commissioner Swope said the county’s representa�ves have asked
for county guidance about the stances it would like addressed. The commissioners discussed asking TRL
reques�ng age limits for certain reading materials, similar to what’s required for access to movies, music
and video games. Commissioner Swope said he’d also like the TRL to create a policy regarding handouts.
The commissioners directed staff to work on a leter outlining the BOCC’s posi�ons.
Overnight shelter: Commissioner Swope expressed concerns with outside coun�es sending homeless
individuals to Lewis County’s shelter. He said he is working with the PA’s Office and The Salva�on Army to
�ghten up the county’s contract.
Insufficient funds fees: The commissioners directed staff to work on a resolu�on establishing an amount
for returned checks.
Mee�ng schedule for Fair week, including Opening Ceremonies (11 a.m. Aug. 15): The commissioners
directed staff to clear their calendars for the week of fair.
Execu�ve session: At 9:28 a.m., Commissioner Swope announced that the Board would be going into
execu�ve session under RCW 42.30.110(1)(i) un�l 9:33 a.m. to discuss the shelter permit process.
• At 9:33 a.m., Commissioner Swope extended execu�ve session un�l 9:38 a.m.
• At 9:38 a.m., Commissioner Swope extended execu�ve session un�l 9:43 a.m.
• At 9:43 a.m., Commissioner Swope extended execu�ve session un�l 9:48 a.m.
Execu�ve session ended at 9:48 a.m. Commissioner Swope noted that no decisions had been made.
Execu�ve session: At 9:48 a.m., Commissioner Swope announced that the Board would be going into
execu�ve session under RCW 42.30.110(1)(f) un�l 9:55 a.m. to evaluate a complaint brought against a
public officer.
Execu�ve session ended at 9:55 a.m. Commissioner Swope noted that no decisions had been made.
Minute folders: Commissioner Brummer made a mo�on to approve minute folders for the weeks of
June 5 and 12, 2023. Commissioner Pollock seconded. Mo�on passed 3-0.
