The commissioners outlined the following policy updates for the .09 Distressed Coun�es Advisory Board:
• Change from two at-large posi�ons to one at-large posi�on and one Industrial Commission
posi�on
• Have BOCC oversee the applica�on process for the appointee represen�ng small ci�es
• Have one representa�ve from each port
• Indicate that the representa�ve for large ci�es will alternate annually between Chehalis and
Centralia
• Have the applica�on process take place in the fourth quarter for terms effec�ve Jan. 1 of the
following year
• Set term dates as one-year terms effec�ve Jan. 1 to Dec. 31
Richard DeBolt and Todd Chaput discussed cross-marke�ng opportuni�es and research taking place
regarding visitors’ travel and spending habits.
Richard and Todd discussed a �mber company and a batery manufacturer considering building in Lewis
County. They also discussed their coordina�on with the Port of Chehalis on work – including a feasibility
study – taking place regarding agricultural marke�ng and the poten�al crea�on of a commercial farmers
market. Commissioner Pollock requested addi�onal informa�on about the batery manufacturer and
expressed concerns about the handling of hazardous materials.
