County Manager overview: Ryan Barrett introduced himself. County Manager and Chief of Internal Services roles through September: The commissioners said there would be no need for overlap of duties during Ryan Barrett’s transition into his new role as County Manager. Mountain View Cemetery: Steve Wohld said Fir Lawn has offered to manage the Mountain View Cemetery in five-year increments a few weeks ago. Steve noted that the county’s window for selling the facility closes in October. Parks update, including funding: Steve asked if the commissioners would like to use real estate excise tax (REET) II for parks funding in response to the temporary lift on the funding. He noted that the fund has $7 million and that the use would cause a dip for 2024. Becky Butler cautioned the county would need to ensure funding eligibility. Steve said he, Doug Carey and Linda Mastin are working on that. The commissioners directed Steve to move forward with REET II funding. Jail upgrade update: Steve said the project is moving forward and that a recent camera issue has been resolved. Capital projects update / Open Gov: Doug Carey said projects are being wrapped up and that the group is closely monitoring budgets. Doug said the building and septic permits for the Sheriff’s substation are under review. He said the building should be on site in three weeks. Fair update: Steve said the fair enjoyed its largest attendance over the past three years. He said attendance was 72,000 or 74,000 and that revenues look healthy. Meeting adjourned at 10:35 a.m.
