2024-01-02 Budget UpdateBudget Update January 2, 2024 11:00 a.m. Present: Commissioner Brummer, Commissioner Pollock, Commissioner Swope, County Manager Ryan Barrett, Lee Napier, Becky Butler Guest(s): None Recorder: Becky Butler and Tammy Martin (11:10 a.m.) Public comment: None Becky Butler said Risk performed an audit to address concerns and found that processes and procedures have been followed correctly. Becky said she talked to the PUD and Frank Corbin from the Broadband Action Team (BAT) about creating a community event to provide knowledge about broadband development within Lewis County. Becky said a bid process will be completed in March. If bids come in higher than expected, there will be a need to review the budget and seek additional funds from the Washington State Broadband Office as allowed in the grant agreement. Becky said they have reviewed the overall project costs and estimates and are watching the budget closely as well as evaluating other design options. Becky said she and Ryan are meeting with ToledoTel and the engineers on January 4, 2024. Becky said David Bailey has determined that ongoing maintenance of the Chehalis River Basin would not be an eligible use of .09 funds. The Board suggested reaching back out to the PA. Becky said the county may consider a shared services agreement with the Economic Alliance for the use of Granicus software. Becky said Trinity Services feels they could help with senior meals services. Commissioner Swope suggested reaching out to Nicole Kiddoo. Commissioner Brummer said increased salary costs have impacted the cost of meals. Meeting adjourned 11:33 a.m.
