Agenda change: Commissioner Pollock made a motion to add to the March 12, 2024, BOCC Business
Meeting Resolution 24-076: List the bid received and contractor selected for two new chassis mounted
roadside sprayer systems. Commissioner Swope seconded. Josh Metcalf discussed the resolution.
Motion passed 3-0.
Court Facilitator Program and Contract: Susie Palmateer said Superior Court and the Clerk’s Office
would like to reinstate the court facilitator program. She said she’d like permission to contract with a
provider using existing funds and to also create user fees to cover future costs of the program. The
commissioners directed staff to include the contract on the upcoming Directors’ Update agenda and to
work toward codifying the user fees and the already-existing surcharge.
Real estate discussions (re: two properties): At 9:17 a.m., Commissioner Brummer announced that the
Board would be going into executive session under RCW 42.30.110(1)(c) until 9:32 a.m. to discuss two
properties.
Executive session ended at 9:32 a.m. Commissioner Brummer noted that no decisions had been made.
Minute folders: Commissioner Swope made a motion to approve minute folders for the weeks of Jan. 1,
8, 15, 22 and 29. Commissioner Pollock seconded. Motion passed 3-0.
WSU Extension: Gary Fredricks said Pam Watson is no longer with WSU. He suggested filling the vacancy
internally for the remainder of the year. Gary said he would like to request $14,000 to fund the position
for the remainder of the year. Becky Butler noted that the 2024 budget was set at $135,000. The
commissioners directed Gary to work with Becky Butler on a proposed agreement.
Flood Control District 2 vacancies: The commissioners said they are working on getting applicants for
FCD2.
Veterans Advisory Board vacancies: Meja Handlen discussed suggested appointees.
