Recorder: Tammy Martin
Public comment: None
LCS Bylaws:
Nicole Barr presented the LCS Bylaws. Nicole said these are available on the Lewis County Seniors
website and are submitted to the Secretary of State.
Applications to serve on the board are available online at the Lewis County Seniors website.
Carol Brock said two members had left the LCS Board recently and there are two openings. There are
currently eight active board members.
LCS Code of Conduct:
Tim Wood asked why the code of conduct was created. Nicole explained there were previous issues with
inappropriate behavior. Nicole said the code of conduct is signed by members and certain parts of the
program can be restricted if not signed. Meal services are not impacted by the code of conduct. The
code of conduct has been approved by the LCS Board and any amendments should be sent to the LCS
Senior Board for consideration.
Parking lot maintenance issues:
Nicole had issues with the parking lot maintenance. She also asked if three of the disabled parking
spaces could be consolidated into two spaces that would accommodate vans.
Senior Center location name changes:
Elizabeth Hicker asked about rumors she had heard about center location name changes. Colonel Ron
Averill clarified the name changes were not center specific, but for the entire charitable organization.
Carol said the name changes were to separate the senior center from being represented by Lewis
County. This is to help with financial support. The new name would be Timber Rivers.
Funding from centers:
Nicole said financial support was required from each center. This is no longer the case since reopening
after Covid-19.
Senior Housing forum:
Anna Schlecht presented information about the struggles faced for senior housing. Anna has a 3-part
forum that will begin in September 2024, Mason County and Thurston County will be in 2025. She is
looking for members to be a part of the panel. The goal is to strengthen and secure housing for the elder
residents of Lewis County. Commissioner Swope said more solutions are needed for funding in
building/investing in housing for seniors, not just forums.
Meals:
Nicole said there have been 2400 meals served for the first quarter. Nicole said there has been a
decrease in the number of personal information forms submitted by those receiving meals. Without the
personal information form, meals cannot be billed to the Lewis Mason Thurston Area Agency on Aging.
Budget:
There have been corrections made to previous bills and this has helped the budget tremendously.
Fundraising:
Dusty Ross said there is a Mother’s Day tea party in May. Nicole said they are currently in process of
creating a strategic plan for the purpose of obtaining grants.
LMTAAA has an event scheduled for May.
Meeting adjourned 4:48 p.m.
