Public comment: None.
Becky Butler discussed a resolution to approve a grant amendment with the Washington State
Broadband Office.
Doyle Sanford discussed a resolution to restrict outdoor burning throughout unincorporated Lewis
County.
Commissioner Pollock made a motion to move two consent items and two deliberation items to the
Tuesday, July 16, 2024, BOCC agenda. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0.
Roundtable
Department heads provided updates, including the following:
• Becky Butler: Internal service rates due July 12. Meeting with electeds the following week to
discuss budget challenges.
• Ross McDowell: Wildfire season has started.
• Matt Jaeger: Spillman migration is underway.
• Doug Carey: Interior work complete on East County Sheriff’s Substation. Ribbon-cutting will take
place in August.
Wednesday workshop
Draft Chehalis Airport Strategic Plan: Chehalis-Centralia Airport Director Brandon Rakes presented
information regarding the Chehalis Airport Strategic Plan.
Skookumchuck Dam: At 9:37 a.m., Commissioner Brummer announced that the Board would be going
into executive session under RCW 42.30.110(1)(i) until 9:47 a.m. to discuss proposals related to the
Skookumchuck Dam.
Executive session ended at 9:47 a.m. Commissioner Brummer noted that no decisions had been made.
Commissioner Pollock made a motion to proceed regarding the Skookumchuck Dam as discussed
during executive session. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0.
Masonic Temple: At 9:49 a.m., Commissioner Brummer announced that the Board would be going into
executive session under RCW 42.30.110(1)(c) until 9:59 a.m. to discuss the Masonic Temple.
Executive session ended at 9:59 a.m. Commissioner Brummer noted that no decisions had been made.
Commissioner Pollock made a motion to proceed regarding the Masonic Temple as discussed during
executive session. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0.
