Agenda update: Commissioner Pollock made a motion to add two items to the Wrap-Up agenda: Donkey Fire and Risk positions. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0. 911 Sales and Use tax pro and con committees: The commissioners directed Jenn Libby-Jones to serve as the point of contact regarding the pro and con committees for the ballot measure. Tractor pull insurance requirements: BJ Kuykendall said the company overseeing the tractor pull has indicated it refuses to purchase the $5 million insurance aggregate the county has requested for its fair event per the Risk Pool’s recommendations. He said the company is willing to purchase a $1 million policy but nothing more. He suggested having the county provide the funding by way of payment for services – roughly $3500 for the $5 million aggregate – for the writer. The commissioners directed BJ to determine the cost of $3 million coverage and to amend the contract by the that dollar amount so the tractor pull group can purchase the needed coverage. WSAC County Leaders Conference (Nov. 19-21 in Vancouver): Commissioner Pollock and Commissioner Brummer indicated they plan to attend – with daily commutes instead of hotel stays. Commissioner Swope indicated he will be unable to attend. Homeless shelter: Commissioner Swope shared concerns about the mobile shower / bathroom stalls and food trailers planned for use at the night-by-night shelter. Eric Eisenberg explained that the building’s existing footprint does not include enough room for showers and bathrooms. He noted that since costs prohibit the addition of facilities needed to meet code compliance requirements, the mobile units were a cost-saving alternative. Commissioner Swope said he’d prefer all restrooms be located within the current building footprint. He directed staff to set up a meeting with himself, Chehalis representatives and Ryan Barrett to further discuss the topic. Salary Commission follow-up: The commissioners said they would like to appoint five individuals to the Salary Commission: one representative from each district as well as two individuals with experience in personnel management.
