Announcements / new business: Directors and department heads provided project updates, including the following: • Josh Metcalf: Paving, construction and fish passage projects nearing completion. • Doug Carey: The sale of 123 Main Street closed Sept. 24. • Mindy Brooks: Community Development has hired a senior long-range planner and has learned it has been awarded a software grant from the Department of Commerce. • Matt Jaeger: Jail upgrades are nearing completion. Wednesday Workshop Capital projects and policy updates: Doug Carey provided updates on capital projects. He requested the commissioners select from the following their priority for project completion: IT or parking lot. Resolutions Becky Butler discussed a notice for a hearing regarding the Lewis County 2024 budget emergency and supplemental appropriations to and transfers within current expense and various funds. The commissioners directed staff to reach out to the expert witness identified in the Assessor’s Office budget and to update the county’s contract with that firm to clarify that they represent the county, not just the Assessor’s Office. Meja Handlen discussed a resolution to approve Contract #R01-0226-24 between Reliable Enterprises and Lewis County. John Abplanalp discussed a resolution to approve Consolidated Contract #CLH31017 Amendment #20 between the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) and Lewis County. Rieva Lester discussed a resolution to approve a $250,000 .09 (“Distressed Counties”) grant to the Chehalis River Basin Flood Control Zone District for its “Flow-Through Dam” project. Commissioner Swope made a motion to move one notice items, two consent items and three deliberation items to the Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024, BOCC agenda. Commissioner Brummer seconded. Motion passed 2-0. Meeting adjourned at 10:11 a.m.
