2025-04-28 Wrap-Up CMBOCC Wrap-Up / County Manager Update April 28, 2025 9 a.m. Present: Commissioner Brummer, Commissioner Pollock, Commissioner Swope, County Manager Ryan Barrett, Becky Butler, Josh Weiss, Troy Nichols, Tammy Martin, Devin Gayton, Doug Carey, Mindy Brooks, Sherri Dokken, Linda Mastin, Tom Stanton, Kate Chatterton Guest(s): Unnamed guest Recorder: Rieva Lester Public comment: None. 2025 Legislative Session updates: Josh Weiss and Troy Nichols provided recaps of the Legislative Session, which ended April 27. They noted the budgets forwarded to the governor include the following regarding Lewis County projects: Operating • $8 million for additional indigent defense grants to cities and counties. Capital • $767,000 for the SW Washington Fairgrounds 4-H barn. • $150,000 for the historic museum restoration. • $150,000 for the County courthouse rehabilitation. • $75 million for the Chehalis Basin strategy. Transportation • North Lewis County Industrial Access project is fully funded and on schedule. • No funding for the Ceres Hill Road Bridge project, and the conference budget does not include the Senate’s proposed approach of creating a list of projects that would be eligible for future grant funding. The commissioners directed staff to draft thank you letters to area legislators. Resolution 25-106: Commissioner Pollock made a motion to approve a nunc pro tunc correction for Resolution 25-106: Appoint / reappoint individuals to the Lewis-Mason-Thurston Area Agency on Aging (LMTAAA) to correct an appointee’s last name. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0. Cemetery District 9 vacancy: Commissioner Pollock made a motion to appoint Harriett Morley to fill a vacancy on Lewis County Cemetery District 9. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0. LTAC agreement: Commissioner Pollock made a motion to approve a memorandum of understanding with White Pass Country Historical Society to correct the amount of 2025 lodging tax grant funding Lewis County is providing. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 3-0. Randle community meeting: Commissioner Brummer said a meeting has been scheduled for May 28 to discuss illegal camping and illegal dumping in Randle. Change order(s): Linda Mastin discussed change orders for the Packwood Senior Center exterior repairs. Meeting adjourned at 9:26 a.m.
