Exec session:
At 9:02 a.m. Commissioner Brummer announced that the Board would be going into executive session
under RCW 42.30.110(1)(i) until 9:12 a.m. to discuss Bellacosa mediation and the City of Napavine -
Newaukum Bridge.
Executive session ended at 9:12 a.m. where Commissioner Brummer noted that no decisions had been
made.
Commissioner Pollock made a motion to authorize the Public Works director to proceed with
negotiation about the bridge issue with the City of Napavine as discussed in executive session.
Commissioner Brummer seconded. Motion passed 2-0.
ESC:
ADA compliance – Gabe Anzelini and David Haymond spoke about upcoming changes regarding ADA
compliance, including closed captioning requirements. David Haymond said the DOJ has compliance
standards that say that all live and prerecorded media are captioned. David said his concerns are the
accuracy of the captions provided.
Julie Pirtle spoke about 4-H programs. She said there are over 400 members and more than 80
volunteers. She said the recent youth fair was a huge success and they are gearing up for the fair.
Commissioner Brummer expressed his thanks to Julie for her contributions to the 4-H program.
Geoff Soderquist and Wes Anderson both discussed a resolution for the Supplemental Agreement No. 2
with WSP USA for professional engineering design services for the Reynolds Road / Harrison Avenue
project.
Wes Anderson discussed a resolution to list the bids received and contractor selected for the South
Lewis County Airport-Rotating Beacon Replacement Project.
Becky Butler discussed a resolution to amend the Hearing Conservation Program for Lewis County
employees.
Commissioner Pollock made a motion to add two consent items and two deliberations to the Tuesday,
May 27, 2025, BOCC agenda. Commissioner Brummer seconded. Motion passed 2-0.
Roundtable:
Department heads provided updates, including the following:
Ryan Barrett said the Equipment Road-eo is May 22. Ryan said he is out of office May 23-30.
Geoff Soderquist thanked the County Manager and the Board for their confidence in him. Geoff said he
appreciates the opportunity to represent Lewis County. Geoff said all were welcome to attend the May
22 Equipment Road-eo at the Area 5 Brim Road shop.
Becky Butler informed the group that some departments are working on rates.
Mindy Brooks said this weekend there will be flea market traffic on Highway 12 at Packwood.
Meja Handlen stressed the importance of washing hands.
Charles Edmonson said the stewardship share is open.
Gary Fredricks said the Fair hosted Kindergarten Days and there was a great turnout.
Angie Hodge said her inaugural employee survey will be out to employees in June. She said the survey is
designed to provide departments feedback about the County experience.
Doug Carey said the masonry contractor starts work today on the baluster.
