Commissioner Pollock made a motion to add to the agenda an executive session discussion regarding jail medical billing. Commissioner Swope seconded. Motion passed 2-0. Proposal for paid internship in PA’s Office: Jonathan Meyer discussed a grant-funded intern position in his office, noting that he has budget capacity to absorb the portion not covered by the grant. Executive session: At 9:04 a.m., Commissioner Pollock announced that the Board would be going into executive session until 9:20 a.m. to discuss jail medical billing under RCW 42.30.110(1)(i) and the Kresky building under RCW 42.30.110(1)(c). At 9:20 a.m., Commissioner Pollock extended executive session until 9:25 a.m. Executive session ended at 9:25 a.m. Commissioner Pollock noted that no decisions had been made. Commissioner Swope made a motion to authorize county staff to proceed with listing the property at 2025 Kresky Avenue at the price discussed in executive session. Commissioner Pollock seconded. Motion passed 2-0. Business Meeting agenda: Department representatives discussed the following proposed resolutions for the June 24 Business Meeting. • 25-167: Approval of warrants / payroll. • 25-168: Reappoint Kendra Meek and Jerry Elliot to the Southwest Washington Fair Advisory Board. • 25-169: Authorize the Director of Community Development to sign an agreement with the Washington State Conservation Commission for the Voluntary Stewardship Program. • 25-170: Authorize the Director of Community Development to enter into an interlocal agreement with the Lewis Conservation District for the Voluntary Stewardship Program • 25-171: Ratify a contract with the Department of Commerce for LED lighting upgrades at the Law and Justice Center. • 25-172: Approve addendum to .09 (Distressed Counties) grant awarded to City of Centralia for Alder Street project. • 25-173: Declaration of Surplus Real Property at 2025 NE Kresky Ave., Chehalis, WA • 25-174: The proposed acquisition of additional right of way for the Jones Road Culvert Replacement at MP 1.71. • 25-175: List the bids received and contractor selected for the Van Ornum Creek @ Bunker Creek Road MP 2.681 Culvert Removal, F.A. PROTECT-21AD(001), CMP-1610. Commission Swope made a motion to add to the June 24, 2025, BOCC Business Meeting agenda the minutes from the June 10 Business Meeting Resolutions 25-167 to 25-175. Commissioner Pollock seconded. Motion passed 2-0. Park security: Alex Murray discussed concerns with illegal activity and vandalism at Schaefer Park. He discussed increasing lighting, the need for a new park host and the possibility of renting a video surveillance trailer, which would cost roughly $1,300 per month, or hiring a security company. 2026 Budget call letter: Becky Butler reviewed the 2026 call letter. Fairgrounds fireworks: Ryan Barrett said Wolverine has found a sponsor for its fireworks show, which would clear the way for fireworks at the fairgrounds on July 4. He noted that it would be a drive-in experience as the fairgrounds site itself would be closed to the public due to the repairs taking place. National forest sale: Commissioner Pollock proposed working with the federal government to take back land near Packwood. July Mayors’ Meeting: Rieva Lester noted that the next regularly scheduled Mayors’ Meeting would fall on the Fourth of July. The commissioners said they would cancel July’s meeting and resume in October. Correspondence: The commissioners discussed Gary Fredricks’ upcoming retirement. Meeting adjourned at 9:54 a.m.
