Animal Shelter update: Meja Handlen outlined options regarding who should operate the animal
shelter, what services should be provided and where the shelter should be located.
2025/26 Risk rates: Not discussed.
Letter to WSDOT confirming county’s commitment to provide matching funds for Toledo and South
County Airport projects: Geoff Soderquist said WSDOT has requested a letter confirming the county has
matching funds for its airport projects. The commissioners approved having Commissioner Brummer
signing the letters.
Washington Counties Risk Pool (WCRP) Legislative Steering Committee: The commissioners directed
staff to apply on Commissioner Pollock’s behalf.
Proceeds from Chehalis River Basin Flood Control Zone District (CRBFCZD) sale: The commissioners
said they will discuss the topic during the next CRBFCZD meeting.
.09 guidance for disposal of grant-funded property: The commissioners said they will delay the
discussion.
Joint annexation ILA hearing with Chehalis: The commissioners said 5 p.m. Oct. 20 will work for the
proposed hearing with Chehalis.
Short-term rentals (preview of Comp Plan): Mindy Brooks and Planning Commission members Jeff
Skutley, Frank Corbin and Gretchen Fritsch provided a recap of the Comprehensive Plan changes
proposed for an upcoming ordinance hearing. Mindy discussed the process by which the commissioners
can propose changes to the draft ordinance.
